I am leaving from work tonight for...Pittsburgh! I've never been there, so I'm excited to get a taste of somewhere new. I'm picking up Megan (my Home Grown dining buddy) in Lancaster, and from there we'll set off to spend a weekend with our friend Sarah, who is a junior at Pitt.
It's about a five-hour drive, mostly on the PA turnpike, but we've got plenty of CDs to keep us entertained and my GPS, Susanna (she's British), to keep us on track. Oh, and I'll be driving my grandmother's car, since some jackass truck driver decided to slam into my Civic as it was innocently parked down the street from the library! But hey, at least I wasn't in it, and he actually stopped.
Anyway. On the Pittsburgh agenda:
-A tour of Pitt's main campus
-The Andy Warhol museum (very exciting)
-The Incline, the cable car device that takes you up the mountain above the city;
-A visit to Sarah's favorite noodle bar! And possibly to the campus cart that serves up Indian food, for some samosas!
Ooh, and big news: Tuesday evening, I will be attending a lecture and meet-and-greet with the one and only Anthony Bourdain! Who is that, you ask? Only the host of Travel Channel's "No Reservations," best-selling author, former executive chef of Les Halles in Manhattan, regular judge on Top Chef, and the one person in the world whose job I would resort to cheap whoring to secure. I am tremendously and simultaneously excited and intimidated.
I'll be blogging upon my return; stay tuned!
